Conviction To Impacting Lives

The past few days I have been thinking a lot about beliefs and convictions (not the criminal type). In my life there are many beliefs that I have, like; Family and G-d are of primary importance, making my wife happy,  being a good father, meaning in life is through giving to others, I have the ability to help people through my coaching, living healthy is a sure way to greater fulfillment in life, etc..

But as I reflected on these beliefs I began to wonder,  Do I show any real conviction in these beliefs? The answer was no.

So big deal, I don’t have convictions will that really have such a big impact on my life?

When I think about people that have made a positive difference in this world, like David Ben Gurion, Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King,  I see people who took their belief to the level of conviction.  These people could have sat comfortably at home and cared about the world in thought, but instead through conviction they translated those beliefs into powerful and passionately dedicated action.

So is it a big deal?   For me the answer is a resounding YES!

King David said (Psalm 90:10) Our years are 70, and if we have great strength 80.

I am only in this life for a short time, I can live it to the fullest or let it pass by.  I want to realize the fullness of my abilities in this world. I don’t want to just know the greatness that rests inside of me, I want to share it.  I want my impact in the world to be more than just displacing earth when I am buried at the end of my days.

A Belief Becoming A Conviction.

I have always known that I have the gift of helping others improve their lives.  Since my childhood I have often found myself in situations where I have been there for others and supported them in their growth.  For the past 3 years I have been working with clients to help them gain greater leadership in their businesses and lives, to create success with balance. But even with a steady practice I have realized that I am serving my clients with the casualness of a belief instead of the passion of a conviction.

Awareness precedes change and change happens in an instant. I have begun to ignite that belief with the passion of conviction.  I want to utilize my abilities fully to create profound and positive impact in peoples lives.  Though my passion is business, I see that the tools I use can help in health, addiction, relationships, etc.

Help Yourself or Help Others.

I would like to make time for you.  To help you get unstuck, catapult forward, create balance. I would like to help anyone you care about.

Your Thoughts On A New Hash Tag #ReflectFriday

One of the things that differentiate us from animals is our ability to break from our nature, to break from habit.

An animal for the most part comes into this world pre-programmed and for the most part lives each day according to that programming.

We on the other hand have the ability to constantly learn, grow and evolve. But do we???

It seems like we can easily get into the most monotonous and debilitating life habits (I guess that also differentiates us from animals, their habits are designed for their survival).

We have this amazing gift of reason, of complete self awareness. We just have to turn it on. We have to become conscious of the learning's that are right there in front of us.

Hence my suggestion for #ReflectFriday

This hash-tag can be the space whee in a short tweet or post we can share some great learning reflections on our past week. It should not be a place for advertising or quote tweeting. It should be a tag that shares deep learning.

Let me know what you think.

You can comment here or just tweet a #ReflectFrday Make th

Make the weekend great.

The Venting Post

Ever find your self with that uncomfortable feeling in your chest?

You feel like you just want to let out a primordial scream.

You are not where you want to be in your life and you cant seem to shift gears.

Here is what you can do:

1. Let out a scream - So you don't traumatize those around you find a place that you wont be heard. Sitting in the car with the windows up works. Alternatively put your face in a pillow.

2. Take 10 Deep Calming Breaths. - After you have let out your primordial call, take 10 deep calming breaths to center yourself.

3. Give Yourself Some Venting Time - Take 5 - 10 min to vent. Try to write/type it out or record yourself. This should be done alone. Do Not vent at another person.

4. Let it go. - Dwelling in frustrations is never healthy. Once you have cleared, return to a solution oriented positive frame of mind.

5. Find An Action -Look over your venting and see what positive actions could help resolve the source of your frustration. Take action now.

Feel free to post some of your ventings here is you want some action ideas.

The God Question.

I go for a regular hike with a good friend. We sing, think and talk deeply. Today we were discussing faith in the Creator. I shared an interesting insight that I had over the weekend and he shared with me an interesting question that he had heard.

My Insight

Blind Faith -> You believe there is a Creator, because you need something to beleive in. You rarely ask questions for fear that your belief might be shaken.

Doubt -> You doubt the existence of G-d, so you question in order to find the truth. You may have a bias and ask questions so you can validate your belief or disbelief.

Complete Faith -> An analogy. You meet your soul mate. Within a short period of time you already know that you and this person have a special connection and are destined for each other. When you ask this person questions you don't do so to try and verify if you are meant for each other. You do it to deepen the relationship. Your questioning is not for validation they are for building a stronger connection.

My Friends Question

My Friend had heard this question at a lecture. I am curious to hear your answer as well. You can put it in the comment section or Tweet it.

If you could have the definitive answer on the question

Is There A G-d?

What would you want the answer to be?

Get Out Of Here!

Well Its been almost a month since my last post. I have been battling a hacked site, and will hopefully have the last snippets of code removed shortly.

I was thinking about how over this pst month I have been trying to get the hack out of my blog. It has been quite insidious. I deleted my blog my database, everything I could, but somehow The Cat Came Back The Very Next Day.

I was reading about the Biblical accounting of how G-d tells Abraham to leave his Land, Birthplace and Parents home. For Abraham to truly achieve his greatness he needed a Massive Shift.

Not only did he need to remove himself from the influences of his city, he also needed to remove himself from the influences of his home town, and his own family culture

This Massive Shift enabled Abraham to set the stage for his self perfection and achievment of his Life Purpose.

Taking this idea and applying it to ourselves we can ask the question:

How can a change of environment and cultural influences effect such significant change?

Before I continue please take 30 seconds to put your answer to this question in the comment section.

Get Out Of Your Rut, Pick Me Up.

Ever have one of those days where you are in a funk and you just cant seem to get out of it.

Well here is a great remedy that was shared with me recently. You don't even have to go far from your computer to do it.

1. Stand up.

2 Take of your shoes.

3. Wiggle your toes while breathing deeply

4. Click Here

5. Start moving. Don't stop till the music is over.

6. Repeat if necessary.

Sometimes all we need to get out of our ruts is some smilin' music with a burst of activity.

Have an inspired day.

Laughing Is Good Too

Some times the best way to brighten your and others days is to put a smile on your face.

Whatever your mood try wearing a smile for the next thirty seconds. In the beginning it might be plastered on,
but by the end of the 30 seconds you can be sure that you will be feeling some genuine HAPPY.

Have a marvelous weekend.

Remarks at Your Funeral

Funny Clean Joke - Remarks at Your Funeral3 friends die in a car accident and they go to an orientation in heaven. They are all asked, "When you are in your casket and friends and family are talking about you, what would you like them to say?

The first guy says,"I would like to hear them say that I was a great doctor of my time, and a great family man."

The second guy says, "I would like to hear that I was a wonderful husband and school teacher which made a huge difference in our children of tomorrow."

The last guy replies, "I would like to hear them say ... Look, He's Moving!

Laughing Is Good

Police Emergency

This is the true story of George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi, who was going to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the shed. George opened the door to go turn off the light but saw there were people in the shed in the process of stealing things.

He immediately phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and George said no and explained the situation. Then they explained that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be there when available.

George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again.

"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I've just shot them all."

Then he hung up. Within five minutes three squad cars, an Armed Response unit, and an ambulance showed up. Of course, the police caught the burglars red-handed.

One of the policemen said to George: "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"

George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

Apology Shmology. Who Needs Them.

I was speaking to a good friend yesterday and we were discussing the need for forgiveness and apology.

I was bringing forth the case that when you have been wronged by someone, you should try to forgive the person as soon as possible, regardless of whether they apologize or not.

This viewpoint comes from the perspective that there is a creator who is intimately involved with our lives and that everything happens for a reason. Our job is to appreciate the message and grow from it.

On a psychological level forgiving someone removes the burden from your heart and makes it possible for you to continue to flourish.

When we got to the topic of apology. The question that came to mind is Who does the apology benefit the giver or the reciever?

My friend seemed to lean towards the benefit of the reciever, but again in an ideal situation the true benefit is for the giver.

A sincere appology had 3 main components

  1. Confession - I appologize for .......
  2. Regret - I truly regret that I .....
  3. Never Again - I will try to never do that again because I know it was wrong and I want to be better

You can see from this that a sincere apology represents a shift of awareness in the apologizer and has far less to do with the receiver.

The persons forgiveness should stem from the fact that they are happy that the person is improving their ways, not becuase their honor has been mended.

There Is Nothing New Under The Sun ~ King Solomon

Amy. Here is my answer to how knowing that there is nothing new can empower your days.

The premis is that in since the creation of the world all the ingredients for everything are here. There is nothing that does not exist. Whatever we invent/design is just a mixture of what is already there. You might say that the computer didn't exist 1000's of years ago, but there have always been mediums for communication. Rock, Papyrus, smoke signals, telephone etc.  As we learn how things work we are able to mix them together. As time progresses and we use the knowlege of what is already out there we can mix things in more unique and powerfull ways.

What King Solomon was saying was that there is know one creates any thing ex-nihilo (from nothing).

So how can this knowledge empower your days? Here are a few ways.

1. You now know that everything you need to succeed is out there already, you just have to know where to look.

2. Your dont need to stress about finding somthing new. You have a history of ideas to share with those that haven't discovered them yet.

3. It can help to simplify. The time wasters of the past will become the timewasters of the future.

4. Every generation can benefit from what you already know. From their perspective it is new, so it becomes of value. Since everyday there are people comming into your sphere of influence, there is the opportunity to share this knowledge.

5. You can become more playful. You can see yourself sitting at the art and crafts table of life. All the playstuff is there you just have to let your creativity flow.

6. Enjoy being part of a shared experience. Knowing that all you struggles and joys have been shared by others can help you be more fully in the moment.
